Which is the best “monitor the install program for WinXP?! [conflicts] [job]

Q: Hi,

Can anybody recommend a good program to install monitor for WinXP?! I want one that you can perform the installation, close it, and run it after installing a comparison, not one that automatically does everything and continues to run during the installation process of the program, because this conflict could give I think. What is the best (free?) Program to install winxp to monitor the work completely and correctly? Does!

Re:I am still using an older version of Windows right now and always used a program install monitor to make sure I could make a clean unintall when necessary. Is it perhaps so that with WinXP you don't need such a program anymore, like does WinXP remove program *completely* when uninstalling or will you still need a good program monitor in order to be sure nothing is left on your system when you uninstall something. The one I use for my older OS also made logs of installations, which was usefull to see what really happenend on your system when you install some program. Does WinXP perhaps do all this now or is it still a good idea to use an install monitor program?! Too bad they charge for InCtrl5, aren't there any other good ones which are free?!!
Re:In the past I've used a program called InCtrl (now in version 5) from PC Magazine. Unfortunately, it seems that they now charge you to download their software. Re:Well, this does not answer your question, but I haven't found the need for such a program with WinXP.

If a program causes a problem, an uninstall or system restore has worked fine for me.

How to create a virtual CD, therefore, have no desire to turn my game discs [emulation program] [game disc]

Q: Hi, I try an emulator program that I could make a picture on my hard drive to find a game disc, and allow me to play. I really have no idea how this is done, or whatever. I would appreciate an opinion, and how to do it, and all programs that I could use. Thank you.
Re:Now see, I personally use the programs to make images of my Playstation games, which I then play on an emulator… I feel this is better than the PSX (which I also own obviously) because loading time is significantly decreased, I can speed up the game if I want, and it looks better.

Also, before burning a DVD I make (like home videos) I mount it to see how it plays out on the PC first.
Re:Also, to save HDD space, there's a way to make a mini-image that's very small but does the same thing. You'll have to google it to find out.

Personally, I think using a no cd modified exe is the better way to go; there seems to be one available for almost any game and patch version.
Re:The most popular tools for making images are Alcohol 120%, CloneCD/DVD, IsoBuster… and possibly a few others, but I haven't tried them.

As far as mounting your homemade images, use Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools.

I'll let you google them.

As for the poster above me, making your own backups is not illegal, and there's no way for him to make images if he doesn't have the CDs/DVDs to make them from. And that's what he's asking about right?

And yes, many newer games come with protection that will prevent you from using such programs for mounting.

you won't find much info here since the usual use of this is to pirate games and AT does not allow warez threads.
